Russell S. Gelvin, III, is an associate attorney HSP. Russ focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, corporate transactions and intellectual property matters. He has an eclectic array of legal, business, and technical experience.
Russ began his law career supporting IT operations in a major Fortune 500 company, where he drew on his strong programming background to provide highly technical legal and programming advice to software developers and engineers to ensure compliance on various legal matters.
Russ has worked on all aspects of complex commercial litigation involving technology licensing, violation of the GPL 3.0 open-source license, copyright infringement, trademark infringement, breach of contract, antitrust and other business cases. Russ has also advised clients on various copyright and other intellectual property issues to support their businesses, including mobile applications, website and e-commerce platforms, APIs, drone technology, among others.
He has also worked with clients on complex data breach matters involving dozens of states with varying statutory requirements. As a novelist, video game developer, and classically trained violinist, Russ has an immense passion for all aspects of intellectual property, cyberlaw, software development, and software licensing.
